HEAL Zone youth met up with peers and reconnected with friends from HEAL Zone communities across Southern California, shared their stories from 2015 and learned about new leadership and advovacy opportunities to improve their school and community environments.

Southern California Kaiser HEAL Youth Convening
June 23-24, 2015  |  Hilton Universal City

The youth of Hollywood High School, Ontario, Riverside and Whittier joined together in Los Angeles to learn about approaches to advocating for change locally in their schools and communities; develop and receive feedback on a local policy/systems change advocacy plan; and have fun while buiding a stronger network.

Southern California Kaiser HEAL Youth Regional Convening
July 16 + 23, 2014  |  Lemon Grove and Ventura

The youth of Lemon Gove, Long Beach, Ontario, Vetura, Hollywood, and Whittier are building youth advocacy networks across cities through the California Center for Civic Participation regional trainings. Over sixty youth and adult mentors gathered in Lemon Grove and Ventura to connect, share, and learn from their peers. The goals were to create a vision and goals for our local work and understand importance of recruitment and retention with youth and partners.

YANSC Sacramento Youth Convening

The Statewide Youth Advocate Network for Sustainable Communities (YANSC) conference is organized by the California Center for Civic Participation (CCCP) to empower youth to be vital participants in the decision-making processes at all levels. The three-day convening prepared the youth to present to elected officials at the State Capitol through interviews with expert policymakers, statewide advocates, and visioning exercising.

Southern California Kaiser HEAL Youth Convening

The Youth Convening purpose is to connect with peers from across Southern California Kaiser HEAL communities and be motivated and inspired by understanding the larger movement. Participants will understand the importance and process of youth involvement in HEAL strategies and leave with a vision and plan to engage with other youth to create local change.relationships with other HEAL residents for the purpose of sharing ideas, resources and learning together.
