Kaiser Permanente Northern California (KPNC) is a large integrated healthcare delivery system providing care to over three million members in Northern California, of whom approximately 6% are children under the age of 6 years. This study examines data derived from 42 620 3- to 5-year-old children from a retrospective cohort of 160 300 KPNC children aged 3–17 years who had BMI and blood pressure obtained during a well-child visit between 1 January 2007 and 31 December 2010.
